The MYPT Professional Staff
The Methuen Young People’s Theatre is pleased to have the services of these experienced professionals to work with our summer musical theater program.
Joseph Gori Director Joe has been involved with music education and musical productions in the Merrimack Valley for over 15 years. Joe teaches music and directs chorus and musical productions at Haverhill High School, where he has been for eight years. He also directs the Merrimack College Concert Choir, which he has done for seven years. Prior to Haverhill High School, Joe for eight years taught and directed shows at Methuen High School. Among the many productions he has directed are Fiddler On The Roof, Guys ‘n Dolls, Hello, Dolly, The Music Man, Camelot, Bye-Bye Birdie, Into The Woods, The Mystery Of Edwin Drood and Pippin. Joe earned his B.S. at Berklee College of Music and a masters degree at the University of Massachusetts – Lowell and studied with the HB Acting Studios in New York City.
R. Scott White Music Director
Scott teaches on the music faculty and is staff accompanist at Keene State College where he also teaches piano and organ. He also teaches piano and serves as accompanist for the Nashua Community Music School. For over 25 years, Scott has served as Music Director and accompanist for many musical productions. He also has been music director and organist for a number of churches in the area including his current position as Music Director at Union Congregational Church in North Reading. Scott holds a B.M. in Music Education and Applied Piano from the University of New Hampshire and a masters degree in Vocal Accompaniment from Boston University. The American Guild of Organists has awarded Scott C.A.G.O. and Service Playing Certificates.
Ben Hellman Assistant Director
Ben’s involvement with Gilbert & Sullivan started as a cast member in MYPT and has grown to include nearly twenty G&S productions. Ben has performed in, directed or worked back stage for dozens of professional and community productions, including Camelot, Carousel, Beauty and the Beast, The Desert Song, Robin Hood, Dracula and The Fantastiks. As a theater professional, Ben has worked with College Light Opera Company in Falmouth, MA, the Hampton Playhouse in Hampton, NH, the Round Barn Theater in Nappanee, IN, and American Family Theater, a touring children's theater company. He also spent a year performing with and managing a song and dance troupe on a cruise ship. Ben earned his B.A. in theater at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He currently teaches English at North Andover High School.
